Buzz About Trusts (Webinar)

Buzz About Trusts (Webinar)

Thursday, October 28, 2021 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

What’s all the buzz about creating trusts for your home care agency?

We are not sure of the source, but it seems there’s been a lot of buzz about trust entities lately among our members. You should consider this decision very carefully and be aware of the possible consequences. HCAF is here to help clear some of the confusion and eliminate rumors and myths.

We are bringing together local legal and accounting experts from our industry to help explain some of the terminology, considerations, challenges, and guidelines that you might want to consider before moving a portion or all your business assets into a trust.

During this webinar program, participants will learn about the legal, accounting, and tax implications of creating a trust for your agency from the following presenters:

Susan St. John, Esq., of the Florida Healthcare Law Firm, a former Medicare auditor whose law practice specializes in the areas of health, tax, estate planning, business planning, and civil trial law.

Andrew Kent, Esq., CVA, CHC, of Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, a shareholder in the firm’s Healthcare and Litigation & Dispute Advisory practices. He assists clients in the areas of reimbursement, compliance, operational consulting, complex litigation, and business valuation.

Bob Slaby, CVA, of Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund, is the firm’s Director of Estate and Trust services. He is also a member of the firm’s Tax Practice. He assists clients with estate, fiduciary and individual taxation as well as estate planning.

Some of the specifics that they will discuss are:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of moving your business into a trust?

Are there different kinds of trusts? What are their purposes?

What are the accounting and tax implications of different kinds of trusts?

Would a Change of Ownership (CHOW) or simply a change of information be required for the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), insurance payors, Medicaid, and Medicare?

What legal processes would be involved?

What alternatives might you want to consider depending on your motivations for exploring trusts as a solution?

This webinar will seek to be applicable to all types of home care providers.
