In a joint survey of thousands of home-based care providers from organizations of all sizes, healthcare technology leaders Axxess and healthcare consulting firm SimiTree identified key take-aways that show care at home providers grappling with ways to do more with less, while dealing with various staffing and regulatory challenges in 2023.
Predominant concerns include recruitment and retention of staff, regulatory challenges related to the new OASIS-E, home health value-based purchasing and reimbursement adjustments resulting from the 2023 home health final rule. Identified were key factors and important strategies to drive higher margins. Based on these findings, Axxess and SimiTree identified numerous best practices as a road map for agencies to consider that may organizations thrive in the years ahead.

Nick Seabrook, Managing Principal, SVP Consulting at SimiTree Healthcare Consulting, understands how committed people can bring out the best in one another. As the Managing Principal at SimiTree responsible for the oversight of the Consulting division, he helps over 250 employees serve 500 active clients to make SimiTree the largest consulting company in home health and hospice with consultative, outsourcing and talent solutions. He is also a member of the Homecare & Hospice Association of New Jersey’s Board of Directors where he serves as the Treasurer. Nick has presented at numerous state and national conferences and his participation in these and many other industry forums and events over the past 20 plus years has garnered recognition as a leading authority on solutions to the latest operational, clinical and regulatory challenges.
His operations expertise has helped agencies improve profitability and reimbursement through revenue cycle consulting focused on improving daily operations. Nick graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Christina Andrews is Senior Director of Professional Services at Axxess, the fastest growing home health technology company home healthcare technology company. In her role, she delivers practical operational solutions to help clients scale operations using technology for home health, home care, hospice and palliative sectors. Christina is a seasoned strategic leader in home-based care with 20 years of experience in operational strategic planning and development, marketing and sales, business development, operations, and team management. Her responsibilities included service as a business development manager, hospice administrator, regional leader supporting growth for multi-state operations and a healthcare consultant supporting growth optimization. Throughout her career, she has developed a marketing analytics platform, managed multi-state certificate of need (CON) processes, and implementation, optimization and created training for numerous growth initiatives for home health and hospice in the areas of sales, operations, EMR, as well as clinical and leadership development. Christina is involved in the Beaufort Historic Society, which works to preserve history in Beaufort, North Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of Toledo in Ohio. She also completed a certification program at Villanova University, earning designation as a Six Sigma Green Belt.
