Online Briefing: Final OASIS-E Instrument and Changes

Description
On December 6, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released the final version of the Outcome Assessment Information Set Version E (OASIS-E), which goes into effect on January 1, 2023. The final OASIS-E All Items and time point versions of the instrument include 27 new items to standardize care across post-acute care settings.
Among the most significant changes are the following from Chapter 3 of the manual:
- Section C: Cognitive Patterns
- Section D: Mood
- Section J: Health Conditions
- Section K: Swallowing/Nutritional Status
- Section N: Medications

Meet the Speaker
J'non Griffin, RN, MHA, HCS-D, HCS-C, HCS-H, COS-C, is a Principal with SimiTree and a 35-year veteran of home care as a registered nurse. She received her Master’s degree in Health Care Administration in 2005. She has experience as a field nurse, director, and executive with home health and hospice agencies, both large and small. She has served as Director of Staff Development and Appeals for home health and hospice agencies. She has taken part in mock surveys for agencies and prepared agencies for accreditation. She has been directly involved in accreditation surveys, acquisitions, and many regulatory crises with state survey agencies and the intermediary. HCAF is pleased to have her as a representative on the Board of Directors.
