HCAF Advocates for Improved Implementation of the Home Health Aide for Medically Fragile Children Program
In a letter addressed to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), HCAF Executive Director Bobby Lolley, RN, expressed concerns and provided recommendations for the successful implementation of the Home Health Aide for Medically Fragile Children program. The letter was submitted ahead of a rulemaking workshop scheduled for Thursday, January 11, during which Rule 59A-8.0099 is set to be developed.
The comprehensive letter outlines various concerns gathered from feedback obtained from HCAF's network of Medicaid-participating home health agencies. Key areas of focus include education and training specificity, supervisory burdens, liability and risk management, operational challenges, emergency respiratory management, and data reporting, among others. HCAF stressed the imperative for AHCA to address these concerns and incorporate its recommendations, ensuring that the final rule adheres to the highest standards for safe and high-quality care.
Recognizing the potential of the rule to enhance care for medically fragile children, HCAF will persist in its advocacy efforts on behalf of the Medicaid home care provider community as the rulemaking process unfolds.
