HCAF Member Agencies Earn National Recognition in U.S. News’ Inaugural Best Home Health Ratings
The Home Care Association of Florida (HCAF) proudly congratulates our member home health agencies that have been recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever Best Home Health ratings, a national evaluation identifying top-performing Medicare-certified home health providers.
In its inaugural review, U.S. News assessed more than 12,000 agencies nationwide using data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), combining clinical quality measures — such as timely initiation of care and hospitalization rates — with patient experience survey results.
In Florida, 1,101 Medicare-certified agencies were evaluated. Of those, 106 earned the “High Performing” designation — approximately 9.6% of agencies assessed statewide. An additional 543 agencies were rated “As Expected,” 92 were categorized as “Evaluated,” and 360 were unrated due to insufficient data.
Florida ranks among the top states nationally for total High Performing agencies, placing third overall behind California (151 of 2,982 agencies) and Texas (133 of 1,869).
“We are incredibly proud of our member agencies that have earned this national distinction,” said Denise Bellville, RN, BS, Executive Director of HCAF. “Their recognition reflects an unwavering commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and compassionate, high-quality care delivered in the home. Our members continue to lead by example, setting a high standard for care-at-home services across Florida.”
What the “High Performing” Designation Reflects
According to U.S. News, agencies earning the High Performing designation demonstrated:
- 99% on-time start of care
- Stronger improvements in patient mobility
- Lower rates of potentially preventable hospitalizations
- Measurable gains in patient independence with daily activities
These outcomes reinforce the value of high-quality, coordinated home health services in improving recovery and reducing unnecessary rehospitalizations.
