Start Planning for November: HCAF’s National Care at Home Month Toolkit Is Here

Medicare Medicaid Private Care Association News

November is National Care at Home Month, and now is the time to begin planning your organization’s celebration. HCAF’s 2026 toolkit offers campaign graphics, customizable messages, templates, and outreach ideas to help Florida providers recognize caregivers and share the impact of care at home.

HCAF joins the National Alliance for Care at Home and fellow state home care and hospice associations in celebrating this year’s theme, Home is Where Care Happens. The observance honors the professionals, volunteers, and family caregivers who make care at home possible, along with the patients, clients, and families they serve.

Throughout November, the campaign will spotlight the full continuum of home-based services:

  • November 1-7: Hospice & Palliative Week
  • November 8-4: Home Care Week
  • November 15-21: Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Week
  • November 22-28: Home Health Week

Providers can use these recognition weeks to organize activities and share stories that reflect their services and communities, then close out November by sharing highlights and thanking everyone who participated.

Resources to Help You Get Started

HCAF’s toolkit brings together materials to make planning easier, including:

  • Campaign graphics and ready-to-use social media messages to promote the observance and highlight your team.
  • Customizable press release and proclamation templates to support local media outreach and requests for official recognition.
  • Staff appreciation and community education ideas to recognize caregivers and help the public understand care at home.
  • Policymaker engagement guidance to help providers coordinate home visits and show elected officials how care at home supports their constituents.

HCAF has formally requested a state proclamation from Governor Ron DeSantis recognizing November as National Care at Home Month. Providers can help bring that recognition to their communities by using the toolkit’s proclamation template to submit requests to city and county officials.

Start Now to Make the Most of November

Planning ahead gives your organization time to coordinate staff recognition, gather stories, schedule outreach, and connect with community partners and elected officials.

Start by identifying the recognition weeks most relevant to your organization, choosing a few meaningful activities, and assigning responsibilities. Invite staff, volunteers, patients, clients, and families to share what care at home means to them, and obtain appropriate consent before sharing their stories, photographs, or videos.

Whether you plan a staff appreciation event, pitch a story to local media, host a community education session, or invite a policymaker on a coordinated home visit, your participation can help more Floridians understand the value of care at home.
