In a significant development for the home care and hospice industries, Steven Landers, MD, MPH, has been appointed as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed NAHC-NHPCO Alliance (The Alliance). This new entity represents the merger of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), combining over 90 years of experience in advocating for quality care at home.

Dr. Landers will lead The Alliance in its mission to represent home care and community providers across the country before Congress and federal policymakers. With nearly two decades of experience as a physician, executive leader, and health policy advocate, Dr. Landers is well-equipped to guide The Alliance in advancing the interests of home care providers at the national level. A board-certified physician in family medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Landers has held leadership roles at the Cleveland Clinic, the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, and Hebrew SeniorLife.

Transition from Bill Dombi to Steven Landers

Dr. Landers succeeds Bill Dombi, Esq., who is retiring after a distinguished career leading NAHC. Bill has been a tireless advocate for the home care and hospice community, leaving a lasting impact on the industry. HCAF, as a state partner of NAHC and a member of its Forum of State Associations, has worked closely with Bill and will continue to advocate for Florida providers through its involvement with The Alliance.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Steven Landers as the inaugural CEO of the NAHC-NHPCO Alliance," said HCAF Executive Director Denise Bellville, RN, BS, COS-C. "His extensive experience and commitment to home-based care make him an ideal leader for this new chapter in our industry. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Landers to support our provider community and enhance access to quality in-home care services for Floridians and patients across the nation.”

To honor Bill’s legacy, we encourage Florida providers to show their appreciation by supporting the William A. Dombi Scholarship Fund. This fund aids undergraduate students at the University of Connecticut’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a focus on those majoring in political science and minoring in public policy. Contributions can be made through the University of Connecticut Foundation’s giving page.

Additionally, we invite you to share your memories and well wishes for Bill on his digital Kudoboard, which will be presented to him at The Alliance's December meeting. Sign the Kudoboard here.
