2023-24 Florida Legislative Committee Assignments Announced

Government Affairs & Advocacy

Florida legislative leaders recently announced committee assignments for the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions. The next Florida Legislative Session will begin on March 7, 2023.

Senate President Kathleen Passidomo (R-Naples) has put women in charge of health care policy and spending in the Senate. Senator Gayle Harrell (R-Stuart) will chair the Senate Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services and Senator Colleen Burton will chair the Senate Committee on Health Policy. House Speaker Paul Renner (R-Palm Coast) eliminated one health care-related subcommittee, suggesting that health care policy might be less of a priority over the next two years. Although the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee exists for budgetary reasons, the main Health & Human Services Committee only contains two related subcommittees: Children, Families & Seniors, and Health Care Regulation. The Health & Human Services Committee will be led by Representative Randy Fine (R-Palm Bay), while Representative Sam Garrison (R-Fleming Island) will chair the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee. House Speaker Pro Tempore Chuck Clemons (R-Cross City) will chair the 18-member Health Care Regulation Subcommittee, while Representative Traci Koster (R-Safety Harbor) will head the 18-member Children, Families & Seniors Subcommittee. To achieve our policy goals, Florida home care professionals are encouraged to develop relationships with their state and federal elected officials through a number of initiatives, including legislative home visits, local legislative meetings, and outreach through the Legislative Action Center.
