2026 Veterans Affairs Home Care Reimbursement Rates Now Available

Medicare Medicaid Private Care

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has released the 2026 reimbursement rates for the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VVN). These rates take effect on January 1, 2026, and will remain in place for the full calendar year, although the VA may adjust them at any time.

To help home care providers easily access the current reimbursement information, HCAF Associate Member Paradigm has updated its ZIP code lookup tool. This resource allows agencies to instantly view location-specific Veterans Affairs rates based on where care is delivered.

Why These Rates Matter

Programs offered through the VA — including homemaker services, home health aide services, and respite care — remain essential payer lines for home care agencies across Florida. These services help Veterans remain safely in their homes and provide agencies with steady service volume and growth opportunities.

Reimbursement is based on the location where care is provided, not the referring VA Medical Center. Agencies serving multiple counties may see rate differences across service areas.

Key 2026 Rate Changes

While most states saw no modifications, the VA announced significant reductions in two regions:

  • Texas: Up to a 43% decrease in certain home care rates
  • New Mexico: Approximately a 19% decrease in home care rates

These cuts may affect provider sustainability and could influence access to home-based care for Veterans in those states.
