Federal Court Blocks Termination of Haiti TPS
This evening, at approximately 7:30 PM ET, a U.S. District Judge in Washington, D.C., issued an order halting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) effort to terminate Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
The ruling grants temporary relief to approximately 350,000 Haitians living in the U.S. under TPS, which was initially granted after the 2010 earthquake. The Trump Administration is expected to immediately appeal the ruling and seek a stay of the court’s order.
Until further notice, individuals whose TPS was scheduled to expire on February 3 should not be terminated based on TPS status.
HCAF will continue to monitor developments and share updates as they become available.
