AI-Powered Workforce Optimization: Streamlining Schedules and Boosting Staff Retention
Sarah Khalid, AlayaCare
In this session, we will explore the current state of workforce management, focusing on two key personas: the Scheduler/Coordinator (representing back-office staff) and the Careworker (representing field staff). We'll examine the differences in workflows between these roles and how emerging technologies, often criticized for being "AI for AI’s sake," can address real, practical needs. The discussion will center on advanced scheduling solutions and optimization techniques such as search and destroy algorithms, greedy methods, sorting, and clustering, alongside more traditional approaches like employee retention risk models and sentiment analysis via note parsing. We'll also delve into the potential of self-scheduling, automation, voice technology, and the role of AI as a co-pilot in supporting these workflows. Ultimately, the session will culminate in a vision for the future state of 2050, where care workers and back-office staff are seamlessly empowered through direct 1:1 interaction with these advanced systems, driving both efficiency and worker satisfaction.
2:30 PM - 3:20 PM
Financial Operations and Using AI to Improve Revenue Cycle Management
Dr. Andrew Awoniyi, Axxess
This session will provide an overview of key concepts in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). Participants will explore the fundamentals of the revenue cycle process and understand how the shift in payer mix—from Medicare Fee for Service to managed care and commercial payers—affects organizational operations. A primer on RPA and AI will be included, focusing on their roles in optimizing clinical and financial processes. The session will also highlight the patient journey, showcasing how RPA and AI can enhance revenue cycle management, improve patient engagement, and support financial sustainability. Best practices for leveraging RPA and AI to strengthen RCM processes will be discussed, emphasizing both operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.
3:40 PM - 4:30 PM
AI in Patient Monitoring and Quality Outcomes
Zach Newman, Enzo Health
In this session, we’ll learn how Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technologies, enhanced by AI-driven predictive analytics, are transforming healthcare by enabling continuous, remote management of patients, particularly in home health and hospice care. These innovations allow for real-time risk detection, early interventions, and reduced hospital readmissions, but face integration challenges such as data interoperability, workforce training, and compliance with HIPAA and CMS guidelines. As AI tools become more embedded in clinical workflows, addressing concerns like bias and ethics is crucial. The future of healthcare will see more personalized, efficient care through AI and telemedicine, with a focus on improving data integration, automating documentation, and enhancing quality scores, while navigating the complexities of patient privacy and provider education.
