State Lawmakers Launch County Delegation Meetings Ahead of 2026 Session
Florida lawmakers are beginning a statewide series of County Legislative Delegation meetings, giving residents and stakeholders — including home care professionals — a direct opportunity to share concerns and priorities before the 2026 Florida Legislative Session that convenes on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
These annual public forums bring together the members of the Florida House of Representatives and Senate who represent your county. They’re listening — but only to the voices in the room. If home care professionals don’t show up, other industries will fill the void.
For the home care industry, these gatherings are a vital platform to ensure lawmakers understand the real-world challenges providers and patients face.
Why Home Care Must Show Up — and Speak Up
- Florida’s Medicaid reimbursement rates are among the lowest in the nation, forcing agencies to make impossible choices and putting care for vulnerable patients at risk.
- Medicaid managed care red tape is delaying care, cutting authorized hours, and drowning providers in costly, time-consuming administrative requirements.
- Workforce shortages are at crisis levels — Florida has ranked dead last in the nation for home health aide availability since 2016. Providers are turning away referrals, and patients are going without care.
The stakes couldn’t be higher.
If lawmakers don’t hear these realities directly from you, they won’t be moved to act. These meetings shape legislative priorities, funding allocations, and the policies that will either sustain or destabilize Florida’s home care system in 2026.
Be there. Be heard. Be the reason change happens.
