The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) issued the following Medicaid provider alert today, which introduces a new Taxonomy Master List (TML) as part of the National Provider Identifier (NPI) initiative. This TML will replace the current Taxonomy Guide on the Florida Medicaid Public Web Portal. It includes information about provider types and specialty types. Sample test files for the TML, Provider Master List (PML), and Pending Provider List (PPL) are available for download in different formats. Additionally, the PML and PPL have been updated to improve provider data accuracy for encounter processing by removing certain NPI Crosswalk columns.

Now Available! TML, PML, and PPL Sample Test Files

The Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency), along with their fiscal agent Gainwell Technologies, is introducing a new Taxonomy Master List (TML) as one (1) of the enhancements implemented as part of the new National Provider Identifier (NPI) initiative. The new TML has a similar layout to the Provider Master List (PML) and Pending Provider List (PPL).  The new TML will replace the current Taxonomy Guide, therefore at a future date the Taxonomy Guide will no longer be available on the Florida Medicaid Public Web Portal. The TML includes:

• The Provider Type number associated with the provider type description.
• The Specialty Type number associated with the specialty type description.

Note: TML sample test files are now available for download in both CSV spreadsheet and TXT pipe delimited formats.

The Provider Master List (PML) and the Pending Provider List (PPL) have been updated to assist the health plans accurately identify provider data for encounter processing. The following NPI Crosswalk related columns have been removed from the PML and PPL:

• NPI Crosswalk – Taxonomy
• NPI Crosswalk – Zip Code
• NPI Crosswalk Status
