The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the July 2022 quarterly Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) frequently asked questions.

The release clarifies questions on items that are included in the OASIS-E. Items D0150 and D0160 (Patient Mood Interview (PHQ2-9)) are addressed regarding scoring for the total points and when the interview should be stopped after completing D0150A and D0150B.

CMS notes that at times it provides new or refined instruction in the document that supersedes previously published guidance. In such cases, use the most recent guidance. Note that this guidance supersedes instructions in the draft OASIS-E Guidance Manual posted in May 2022.

CMS also answered one question on item N0415 (High-Risk Drug Classes) that clarifies how specific the documented indication must be.

Several questions on items GG0130 and GG0170 regarding self-care, mobility, walking, and wheelchair activities are included, along with one question on items M2020 and M2030 that asks CMS to explain what is meant by “routinely stored” for medication management.
