Input Requested for PDN Reimbursement Methodology Redesign

Medicaid Government Affairs & Advocacy

During the 2024 Florida Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature passed House Bill 5001, directing the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to redesign the reimbursement methodology for Private Duty Nursing (PDN) services. This redesign aims to appropriately reimburse providers based on differences in patient acuity and other factors affecting the availability of private duty nurses. AHCA is required to submit the proposed reimbursement model to the Executive Office of the Governor, the Senate Committee on Appropriations, and the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee by August 1, 2024.

To ensure the final product addresses issues affecting PDN providers, AHCA is seeking feedback from home health agencies (Provider Type 65-965), independent registered nurses (Provider Type 65-118), and independent licensed practical nurses (Provider Type 65-117) enrolled in Florida Medicaid. Your input is critical to developing a reimbursement model that accurately reflects the complexities and challenges you encounter.

In addition to this survey, HCAF will be meeting with AHCA in the coming weeks to voice the concerns of providers. However, participating in this survey remains crucial to ensuring all perspectives are considered in the redesign process.

Please participate in a brief survey to share your insights on the redesign of the PDN reimbursement methodology. Survey responses are due by the end of the day on May 29, 2024.
