NAHC Launches Survey to Assess Home Health Agencies' Relationship With Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) is conducting a survey focusing on the operational and financial dynamics between home health agencies and Medicare Advantage (MA) health plans.

This survey builds upon earlier MA studies conducted by NAHC from 2014 to 2020. The 2024 edition presents a critical opportunity to compare today’s landscape with previous benchmarks.

With MA enrollment reaching record highs in 2024, surpassing 50% of Medicare enrollees nationwide and exceeding 70% in some regions, its impact on providers continues to escalate annually. The data sought in this survey is indispensable for advocacy endeavors on behalf of providers and serves as a valuable resource for providers in their business decisions.

Past NAHC analyses revealed a significant necessity for providers to subsidize payment rates for many MA plans to cover the cost of care provided to MA enrollees, alongside demonstrating higher administrative costs compared to traditional Medicare.

Substantial and widespread participation is crucial to ensure the validity and reliability of the data. Most survey questions should be answerable using readily available information or estimates. The previous iteration of this survey, conducted in 2020, was completed on average within 16 minutes.
